Henley 2020

Wedding Open Weekend Henley 2020

Last month we were blessed to be out and about doing what we love doing.

Together with our friends from the Culden Faw Estate and Sojo Kitchen we planned and held a wedding open weekend by the river in Henley-On-Thames.

There are many fantastic event locations on the estate but we were drawn to the beauty of Greenlands Park being waterside. Having the marquees so close to the water was magical and it felt truly unique.

The pitch is available for private hire and we think it makes a pretty magical wedding location.

Find more information about the venue here.

Lets take a look at what went on during the wedding open weekend and introduce you to the suppliers that helped us make it all happen.

We want to begin by thanking our photographer Gyan Gurung for all the stunning images and to our videographer Jake Burgess for the following film.

For the event we wanted to showcase two different sizes of marquee and with different interiors to help guests envisage how dynamic the spaces can be. Whether you are planning a large event for 200 guests with a separate bar structure or a small gathering for just 30 guests we hopefully had this covered with our 12 metre and 9 metre marquees.

The layout was designed as an L-shape comprising of the 12×27 metre main marquee for dining and dancing, and a 9×16 metre marquee for a bar and lounge. Both tents were facing the water with an area out front for chill out seating.

Time for a drink

On arrival guests were invited to the bar marquee and offered a choice of cocktails or soft drinks served by Alex “The Doorstep Bartender”. The Blackberry Sour was a big hit! The rustic wooden bars and back bar from Eden Event Hire made the perfect base for Alex’s creations.

The space complete with velvet sofas, Weaver Green soft furnishings and beautiful ceramics sure was a cosy place for guests to relax and enjoy the view.

A huge thank you to the team from Virginias Vintage for coming all the way from Devon.

Come in and take a look.

From the bar tent guests were accompanied by a member of the team for a tour of the main marquee. Through the stable doors you come to the 4 metre round bar complete with our new 4 metre flower ring finished with Edison bulbs.

The bar and flower ring help to divide the space creating rooms in the marquee. The flower ring styled by Joanne Caldwell was a real show stopper especially later when the sun went down and the lights came on.

CTablescapes.

A huge amount of work goes into every event whether it’s for 30 or 300 people and we could not have done it alone. For our open weekend we were were lucky to be co-hosting with the lovely ladies from Sojo Kitchen who introduced us to some great local suppliers.

Inside the main marquee we had 5 different table plans creatively styled by the group. Crockery was supplied from Classic Crockery, stationary by Studio Anika and floral design by Joanne Caldwell.

All the tables were exceptional but we especially loved the rustic trestles with woven place mats, decorative glassware and pastel florals.

For those needing a little afternoon boost, Anna Lewis’s delicious tasters and Sojo Kitchen’s desert station went down a treat.

A bit of fun.

These mobile photo booths were so fun. Moss from Mobile Moments London came down to meet us and talked us through the units. The tuk tuk was especially cool and added a bit of vintage style to the space.

Let there be light.

When the sun goes down the marquees really come alive, however, as the open weekends are usually held during the day guests don’t get to see the tents at night.

The main marquee was glowing!

To achieve this we lined the walls with up lighters and had four profile lights which projected patterns onto to the canopy. Combined with the fairy lights and hanging pendants on the bar the whole space looked incredible.

Thank you.

A huge thank you to all the incredible suppliers who helped during the event or who provided equipment for the event. These are strange and unprecedented times and we really appreciate you coming together with us to make events like this happen.
